Overview and Responsibilities

Viacom is seeking a dynamic, seasoned corporate communications executive to lead strategic communications efforts across the business, reporting to the head of Communications and Culture.
The role will span corporate and financial priorities, advertising, content distribution, high level brand strategy and multiplatform efforts, and will be focused on shaping messaging and strategy around media relations, speaking engagements, issues management, and internal communications. The ideal candidate will be a fast-moving, strategic thinker with strong and broad writing skills, great media relations (with financial and business press in particular), have the ability to manage a large team, and collaborate across the company. The position also requires a history of working with C-suite executives, proven success in executing high-profile communications initiatives, and creativity in using new tactics and tools to communicate internally and externally.
Partner with the head of Communications & Culture to shape industry narrative about Viacom’s business and strategy while leading the corporate communications team
Manage corporate reporting from a communications perspective, including the quarterly earnings process
Oversee the development of communications plans in support of key strategic functions, including Ad Sales, Content Distribution, Data and Research, Multiplatform Products, Human Resources and more
Serve as speechwriter for senior management; think and write strategically and creatively about a range of corporate issues for a variety of media, including releases, remarks, briefing documents and blog posts
Maintain and strengthen relationships with key press and influencers, and serve as corporate spokesperson
Help drive corporate culture and internal communications initiatives across the organization
Advise and coordinate with communications executives across the divisional level to ensure consistency of messaging, strategy and to elevate their success stories
Work closely with key business stakeholders including Viacom’s CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel


Basic Qualifications

15 years of experience in Communications and Public Relations, with significant experience in media, entertainment and technology preferred

Additional Qualifications

Excellent relationships with key press, or an ability to cultivate and maintain those relationships
Ability to help shape the narrative for a dynamic company that’s quickly evolving
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Ability to lead and grow a large team
Highly collaborative, flexible and adaptable, with strong diplomatic and influencing skills
A track record of rolling out creative and innovative communications campaigns
Ability to work cross-functionally across different company divisions and with outside partners
