The Georgia Marketing Manager leads the communications and marketing activities for the Georgia Chapter by creating, implementing and measuring the effectiveness of a targeted and tailored communications and marketing plan.


The Marketing Resource Center (MRC) is a shared-services marketing group within The Nature Conservancy. The Georgia Communications and Marketing Manager works with the MRC and the Georgia program to create and implement the Georgia communications and marketing plan. They assist the Georgia program in meeting conservation, government relations and philanthropic goals by collaborating with staff, key partners, trustees and donors to develop and activate communication strategies focused on priority conservation programs in Georgia. Overall, the Communications and Marketing Manager will develop and implement the annual marketing plan for the Conservancy in Georgia in alignment with the marketing objectives of the larger organization.
The Georgia Communications and Marketing Manager reports to the MRC with a dotted line to the Georgia State Director and manages contractors and/or staff to execute communications and marketing tactics.

•As part of a five-person marketing team serving Georgia and Florida, the Georgia Communications and Marketing Manager’s primary responsibility will to be to create and implement the Georgia communications and marketing plan. In addition, you will:
•Create, implement and measure strategic programs and initiatives to ensure that Georgia conservation and philanthropic goals and objectives are achieved.
•Institute programs that integrate a variety of tools including media relations, advertising, social media, digital marketing, video, publications, and targeted events.
•Provide and/or manage writing and editing support as assigned for a variety of communication materials including press releases, web pages and online promotions/giving/communications, social media posts and print publications.
•Conduct regular outreach to Georgia media and support national media efforts.
•Ensure that the creative work reflects the positioning, messaging and voice of the organization.


•Designs, implements and directs multiple communications and marketing projects by establishing clear deliverables/metrics, managing contracts, ensuring SOP compliance, budget and ROI.
•Acts independently and collaborates fully with cross functional teams.
•Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Experience planning and executing marketing programs and budgets, coordinating multiple projects and shifting priorities
•Experience setting strategies and translating into plans and tactics
•Experience with traditional and non-traditional media and marketing
•Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
•Experience with media outreach and public relations
•Experience working with cross-functional teams


•Familiarity and/or relationships with key media outlets in Georgia
•Experience with social media and digital marketing
•Exceptional writing and editing skills
•Ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner
•Ability to persuasively convey the mission of the Conservancy to diverse target audiences
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•Ability to design, implement, and direct multiple projects, setting deadlines and ensuring program accountability
•Initiate, coordinate and manage communications around state policy initiatives and coordinating with the federal policy communications team on messaging around federal issues that affect Georgia
•Strong computer skills and software knowledge. Knowledgeable of current and evolving technology related to field of experience.
•Project management skills
•Basic graphic design, event management, web content management experience a plus.  Experience using digital media software and Adobe Creative Suite.
•Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
