Primary duties are to teach undergraduate courses in the Integrated Marketing Communication and Public Relations curriculum, with a focus in Advertising. Course assignments may include principles, case studies, research, writing and campaigns classes in these areas. The candidate may be asked to teach additional as needed by the department, including Public Speaking, and may have the opportunity to teach in his or her specialty area. Teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester (4 courses). Faculty members are required by contract to engage in continuing scholarly development and academic advising, and to perform department and university service. Days and times are variable.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate degree required in communication, advertising, or a closely related discipline. A.B.D. considered if dissertation defense is scheduled. Doctorate must be completed by August 2018. Minimum two years of experience in a professional marketing communication and/or advertising position required. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration, is required. During the interview and teaching demonstration, the candidate must exhibit knowledge of current trends inIMCand advertising, and provide a portfolio of his or her creative or professional work demonstrating proficiency in these fields. Candidates are expected to have a record of faculty collaboration and must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant college teaching experience in integrated marketing communication, PR, advertising, or social media is strongly preferred.
Experience teaching courses across the integrated marketing communication, PR, advertising and/or social media curriculum is strongly preferred.
Candidates with demonstrable expertise in consumer insights and audience research; data analysis, interpretation and presentation; web metrics/analytics; and search engine optimization strongly preferred. Candidates with demonstrable professional experience in web, social, digital, video and/or print advertising preferred. Candidates with active research agendas preferred. Extra consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high level of interest in curricular or program development, online course delivery, internship coordination, and advising professionally-related student organizations.
