We are seeking an experienced and passionate National Sales Manager that will be responsible for representing the definitive source for New England Sports programming NESN, throughout the country and among our existing National client base.

 

The National Sales Manager will lead and motivate the national sales team to exceed their goals and assist the Account Executives whenever needed. The ideal candidate will have keen attention to detail and be organized. Must be able build client relationships, be excellent in broadcast sales negotiation, and able handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidates for this role must be able to take initiative and make decisions without daily guidance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Home Team Sports (HTS) to achieve digital sales goals
  • Oversee direct sponsorship and agency driven revenue streams by designing and recommending packages for national rep firm.
  • Develop short- to mid-term sales plans and initiatives for generating advertising sales revenues for regions or segments of accountability
  • Interact with top management to keep them abreast of advertising sales plans and strategies, including making recommendations on business decisions
  • Build and enhance high level internal and external relationships
  • Negotiate and close prominent and complex sales accounts
  • Provide accurate revenue budget forecasts and on-going projections for national sales team performance
  • Assign accounts and assist in all facets of rep firm management including making recommendations for hiring, training, evaluating and performance incentives. 
  • Actively participate in the sales process through prospect identification, needs analysis, sales presentations and sales analysis.
  • Analyze market data and sales trends; collect and report on research information to ensure NESN’s sales plans are effective and strategic
  • Engage Creative Services, Programming and Production in the creation of sponsorship opportunities that meet the client’s needs
  • Manage, develop and provide leadership to the National Sales Team
 

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of media sales and 3+ years of national sales management or national rep firm experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in digital sales is strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of success in developing new business, creative selling techniques, prospecting and inventory control, including developing and growing sponsorship and entitlement sales
  • Experience with managing and developing junior sales staff
  • Strong leadership, motivational, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of the world of sports, with a focus on New England’s professional sports teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent presentation skills is required
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint; Knowledge of and/or experience with the Wide Orbit traffic system a plus
