Responsibilities

Purpose
 

This is an 18-month program designed for recent broadcast / technology college graduates who have a desire to learn and work on live television. The primary purpose of this position is to build a pipeline of technical entry level talent who are passionate about broadcast and technology. There will be four (4) rotational programs in the following areas: Traditional Broadcast, Engineering IT, Broadcast origination & Post Production.
 
Responsibilities

          Traditional Broadcasting Rotation:

  • Studios, Control/Audio Control Rooms and Core
  • Read drawings and install equipment accordingly
  • Become familiar with Control and Audio room workflows and understand the different positions.
  • Understand how the core router sends signals throughout the facility
  • Know how to troubleshoot using various tools such as waveforms and oscilloscopes
  • Be familiar with basic operation and troubleshooting of broadcast equipment including intercoms, playback devices, audio consoles & switchers

    Engineering IT Rotation: 
     
  • Business and Broadcast IT
  • Know how to set up routers and switches
  • Assist in hardware and software deployments and changes
  • Understand multi-casting and convergence
  • Understand video streaming and digital delivery methods
  • Support day-to-day network operations support 

    Broadcast Origination Rotation: 
     
  • BOC and Transmission
  • Understand how all signals come in and out of the facility
  • Become knowledgeable with the various encoding/decoding methods and transport streams
  • Support live-event and off-air workflows
  • Assist in troubleshooting digital and analog signals
  • Become familiar with operating the transmission console

    Post Operations and Digital Workflows Rotations:

  • Post Production, Graphics and Remote Systems
  • Become knowledgeable with various post production applications including Avid and Adobe
  • Assist in setting up and supporting remote events
  • Become familiar with data transfer acceleration systems
  • Know MAM and all of its processes
  • Understand file based workflows including 4k and above

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • - Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Broadcast Television, Studio Production, Audio, Film or related field 
  • - At least 6 months hands on experience in live broadcast technology or film production
